Gaye Bloomfield and Gerd Banke both currently teach at Nayland College: a Microsoft Showcase School in Nelson.
Gaye teaches Psychology at Years 10, 12 and 13. She leads the schools blended learning team, which was created to foster agency and best practice in the use of digital technologies. Gaye is also a Kāhui Ako within-school teacher and a committee member of the Psychology Network of Expertise. She has been an MIEE since 2015 and attended E2 2016 in Budapest. She completed an M.Ed (e-learning) 2015. The topic for her thesis was: Senior secondary school students’ engagement within a blended learningcourse: An exploratory case study.
Gerd is the acting Head of Learning Area for Science and she teaches senior Biology and junior Science. She is the Nelson Regional Biology teachers’ representative for BEANZ, a committee member for the Nelson Scitec Expo, a Kahui Ako within-school teacher and a member of the Nayland College blended learning team. She has been a MIEE for just over a year and attended Bett Asia in Kuala Lumpur earlier in 2019.
