Deanne Joosten has been teaching Drama with great passion and enthusiasm for 16 years. Currently Deanne is an Assistant Principal at Phoenix P-12 Community College in Ballarat, VIC. She also lectures pre-service teachers on the topics of Drama Curriculum and Digital Technologies at Australian Catholic University. Deanne regularly presents at conferences on the topic of Technology in the Classroom and nationally and internationally.
Deanne is the first Drama teacher to have taught VCE Drama and VCE Theatre Studies online to four schools simultaneously through the Department of Education Victorian Virtual Learning – Digital Learning Branch. She has always been interested in technology and this has seen her bring together her innovative use of ICT and her experience as a Drama Teacher to create a highly creative and exciting learning environment for her students. Deanne has a great passion for finding innovative ways technology can work together in any classroom.
Deanne is currently recognised as a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert. This role sees her working as part of a global network of amazing teachers in Australia, New Zealand and around the world, all of whom share the same passion for innovation. Being a MIE for the past 5 years has enabled Deanne to extend her knowledge of technology and to expand her knowledge in the areas of education and technology. It also allowed her the opportunity to attend the Microsoft E2 Conference in Budapest. Her work as part of this community also lead to her completing her Masters in Education in Digital Learning.
As a lifelong learner and innovative thought leader, Deanne is very excited about the future as she continues to explore ways exciting ways technology can heighten a student equality and create exciting deep learning experiences in the classroom.
